The Tamagotchi is back for its 25th anniversary — this time as a wearable. Now you can increase your mini digital pet proper out of your wrist, and use a microphone to name out to it and the touchscreen to pet it.
The unique Tamagotchi debuted in November 1996 as an electronic toy for youths. Coming from Japanese toy maker Bandai, the Tamagotchi smartwatch, spotted earlier Thursday by Kotaku, features a touchscreen LCD and as much as 30 hours of battery life earlier than needing to be recharged through USB.
For now, the Tamagotchi smartwatch can be bought by lottery — you may apply between June 17 and July 2, with the winners introduced later in July. For everyone else, the wearable goes on sale Nov. 23. It will cost 7,480 yen (roughly $68), 筑後 ランチ 人気 and you can even purchase extra “good cards” for 1,a hundred yen (about $10) you could insert into the smartwatch.
The Tamagotchi Sweets Mates card will provide you with themed gadgets like sweets and desserts to feed your little pocket pet, as well as a mini game. The Tamagotchi Rainbow Buddies card contains rainbow and unicorn theming like a new clock display, and meals and items on your pet.
