A ‘ woman’s boyfriend seen as a person of interest in her death was shot and killed by police Tuesday after authorities said he threatened them with a knife.
Matthew Davis, 34, was wanted in connection with what police called the suspicious death of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Mary Anderson.
Davis, according to State Police, had been arrested in 2009 for stabbing the boyfriend of the mother of his children.
Anderson’s body was found early Tuesday morning inside her truck in the Vermont town of Brattleboro on Elliot Street after having gone missing the past weekend.
At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Davis – who police said they were trying to find and speak to – was located by the state troopers and local police in nearby West Brattleboro.
Police didn’t say how it escalated, but Davis – who was armed with a knife and threatened officers with it, according to the – was shot by police ‘during an attempt to speak with’ him.
